ON NOVEMBER THE 7TH 2009 OPERA DEBUT IN OPERA ŚLĄSKA IN THE ROLE OF MIMI IN "LA BOHEME" G. PUCINI

Urszula Piwnicka began the study of singing with prof. Elżbieta Sawicka and afterwards continued with prof. Robert Nakoneczny. Currently she is perfecting her vocal skills under direction of prof. Maria Fołtyn.

Since 2007 the artist has been performing on the stage of the Grand Theater in Warsaw, in the performance “Śpiewnik domowy” (“Home songbook”) by Stanislaw Moniuszko.

Urszula Piwnicka made her debut at the age of 19 years with Bianka part in the musical "Kiss me Kate" in the Opera "at the Castle” in Szczecin.

Then she became soloist of the Music Theater in Gdynia, where she took part in many operetta productions, various musicals and concerts.

Since 1999 to 2004 Urszula Piwnicka was soloist of the Music Theater in Poznan, where she was singing mainly the leading parts in the classical operettas, inter alia:

  • "The Gipsy Princess" Emmerich Kálmán - Silva
  • "The Merry Widow" Franz Lehár - Hanna Glavari, Walentina
  • "Countess Maritza" Emmerich Kálmán - Maritza
  • "My Fair Lady" Frederic Loewe - Eliza
  • "The Country of the Smile" Franz Lehár - Liza
  • "Hansel and Gretel" Engelbert Humperdinck - Gretel
  • "Parisian life" Jacques Offenbach – Baroness, Gabrielle
  • "The Count of Luxemburg" Franz Lehár - Angele
  • "Tha Waltz King" Johan Strauss - Olga
  • "Carewicz" Franz Lehár - Sonia

She is performing in Poland and abroad, including Italy, Austria, Luxembourg, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Ukraine.

In 2001 she took part in the vocal mastership course Musica Lirica Italiana in Italy, led by the famous Italian conductor Alberto Zedda.

In 2004 she was nominated for Actress Interpretation of the Year for her role as Countess Maritza during The Opera Festival in Bydgoszcz.

In 2006 she sang the title role - Hanna Glavari - at the Warsaw "The Merry Widow" premiere (dir. A. Strzelecki) in The Musical Theater "Operetta".

In 2007 she stepped on stage at the Lviv Opera on the occasion of "Multicultural Festival of Galicia."

In 2008, to improve her opera workshop, she took part (as an active participant) in the vocal mastership course Academia Vocalis Tirolensis in Austria, led by world-renowned opera singer Mirella Freni.

In 2009 she was distinguished at the vocal competition IBLA GRAND PRIZE in Italy.
